ReviewText: Pros:Its a decent card. I own 2 and have used them off and on for over a year now in different rigs.Cons:Unstable drivers. Would randomly hard crash entire system or freeze. Surprisingly, performance decreased with crossfire in my tests with multiple games/software/engines. Ended up switching back to my old 670 just so I could get work done. Someone posted that this beats a 970. I havent experienced that. I also have a 970 and it crushes this card in so many ways.OtherThoughts:Overall I ended up keeping these as single cards in two different systems that arent my main work machine. Just too unstable when I need rock solid stability. The single cards are more stable but still have issues from time to time. Once I get more 970s these will be back up cards.ManufacturerResponse:Thank you for the great review. We appreciate the positive feedback.XFX Supportneweggsupport@xfxforce.com

ReviewText: Pros:Benchmarks are up or better than a GTX 970. Actually has true 4GB RAM on a 512-bit bus unlike the 970 's split 3.5 +.5 fiasco on a 256-bit. You have AMD 's Mantle for games like BF4 which gives me a solid 15-20 extra FPS. This XFX is reference design, so you can easily water cool.Cons:Hot! Hot! Hot! Idles in my Phantom 210 case at 41 C. I 've got 5 Corsair Air series case fans: 2 pull, 3 push, plenty of air flow and it still runs really hot. If the fan goes over 50%, it 's extremely loud.OtherThoughts:Returned my 970 in favor of this 290X because of Nvidia 's false advertising regarding the 970. I used to be entirely for the green team, but a company with shady business practices like that will never get my money again. Slapping NZXT 's Kraken GPU bracket and a Corsair H50 to liquid cool this volcano.ManufacturerResponse:Thank you for the great review. We appreciate the positive feedbackIf you have any questions, please let us know.XFX Supportneweggsupport@xfxforce.com

ReviewText: Pros:Card is fantastic, Fast, and just looks plain sexy in case, Paired with a 4670k @1920x1080 runs every game at 60+ no hesitations, will be buying another here soon.Cons:Loud i mean a jet taking off at 100% fan speed but have it set to 60%max and its very tolerable at that. Going to be watercooling so i grabbed the reference model.OtherThoughts:Have owned for bout 9 months not a single issue what so ever, Have always owned XFX and they have always been top notch, Will be buying from XFX again.ManufacturerResponse:Hello,Thank you for the great review. ReviewText: Pros:I 'm not much of a gamer and started off looking at an R9 290 card to drive my Dell 2715Q 4k monitor. However since I wanted to water cool my new setup, I came across Corsairs HG10 water cooling bracket for AMD reference designs. Finding a 290 reference board was very difficult so I decided to bump up to the 290x card and found this one.XFX warranty states they dont care if you water cool so long as board doesnt look like its been misused so I got this card, the HG10 and Corsairs H100i water cooler and couldnt be any happier. I 'm not much of a gamer but playing diablo 3, Age of Wonders 3, and Skyrim all run smooth at 4k and GPU temp has not gone over 45c which says a lot considering this card by design is allowed to run up to 95c.Cons:None. Manufacturer Response:Awesome. Thank you for the great review. We are happy you are pleased. If you have any questions, please let us know.XFX SupportNeweggsupport@xfxforce.com

I have in in a fractal design r4 with fans are quite even gaming there not to loud. mining: this card does some amazing hash rates aswell I picked up this card when they were $180 and dollar for dollar hash better then my 290. I get 477khs and have been runing that for over a month now with no issues. Cons: i cant think of any cons for this card it really does a great job for a budget gamer/miner Other Thoughts: mining settingsintensity-19worksize-256thread-concurrency-15509gpu-engine-1130gpu-memclock-1475gpu-fan- 85DogeMeUpScotty/ DR18mM4KtEUccbRRRh3nqPe2Yg4TCtLcuj

ReviewText: Pro: Newer technology than that of previous ATi cards such as the 7850. Nearly the same cards, but this accels in core, and memory clock speeds as well as having DX11.2 and OpenGL 4.3. The price is pretty decent, a bit too high in my opinion as you can get 2 7850 2gb versions for the same price. Cons: None I could think of. Plugged right in, great size for a mid tower and heat/noise is on the lower side. Other Thoughts: It's a good card

Still going strong

ReviewText: Pro: This is a really great card. Runs significantly quieter than the reference card coolers. Hashes around 860Kh/s out of the box with stock clocks. I've read on some forums to avoid PowerColor for mining - except that I haven't had any issues with these. Cons: None that I can think of. Other Thoughts: Just glad I got mine when they were still $550, not $700.

Great card, very quiet.

ReviewText: Pro: Purchased two for crossfire to drive my new 24 inch 4K monitor. You defiantly need two to run BF4 @ 4K and Ultra settings. Core at 1075, memory 1400 Much cooler than any other I have tested. Even overclocked at 4K, VRM's never go over 92C. Keep in mind this is crossfire. A single card will be lower. I purchased the first few that hit Newegg and got both for $539.99 each. Cons: Price. Glad I picked up two before they went to 599.99. Other Thoughts: One of the coolest running cards out there.

Excellent R9 290 - Cool Running

ReviewText: Pro: Best thing about it is the recessed fans. Some of the other cards don't have this and it can be problematic in SLi or X-Fire. All in all this is a very nice card especially for LTC mining. Cons: Just the price. If it were on sale that would have been better

ReviewText: Pro: See comments Below. Cons: This review is not for this card, but more for the PowerColor version.I purchased the PowerColor HD6990 card through newegg in November 2011. The company has a 2 year warantee. My card is slightly over the 2 year warantee, and has only seen about a year of use due to my being in the military. So one year of actually using a $700+ video card and it just stops working for no aparent reason. The RMA at PowerColor was clear on the issue, if it's a day over the 2 year mark, its not covered. When asked if i could send it it to them and pay to have it fixed i was told, I could send it in to them, but they would not do repairs and if it wasnt a simple fix, I would have to pay to have it shipped back to me, still broken.I understand a company having a warantee on an item, and the implications, but there should also be a reasonableness to it. I paid over $700 on a card that I used for one year, then it dies and the company just washes its hands of it. That is NOT good customer service, nor standing behind a product. Its saying 'we lucked out and it died after the deadline, so tough luck to you". Other Thoughts: Just be warned before you sepnd this much money on an item from PowerColor, if its one day past the 2 years, you just threw away the money. They will not even offer a way to keep a customer satisfied for return business. Sorry to be so negative, but a $700 loss for no reason, no misuse, it just failed to work, and the company saying 'oh well, go buy another' is not a company i would do business with again. Look at the other companies that will offer to at least try to assist, vs looking the other way. They are all roughly the same price, I would purchase one from a company that stands behind its product.

ReviewText: Pro: good GPU. nice looking & all. more metal than plastic. not much else to say. Cons: earlier i reviewed this GPU as a BBQ. & it is. when you order your bbq, you will need to turn down the flames so you don't burn your bacon burger. you can use VBE7 & win 98 DOS to change your vbios if you are familiar with DOS and flashing devices. the stock bios are garbage. 450.00 off the shelf bbq. the GPU cooks food @ 84c, under minimal loadcould probably toast a marshmallow and bakes a potato in about two hours. seriously, what were you guys thinking? Other Thoughts: earlier i reviewed this GPU as a BBQ. & it was. i had to flash a custom bios and under volt the GPU's to 1.085. after writing and flashing a custom bios and under volting the cards i have them running at 99% load, 720kh/s, 71c @ 67f room temp. had to spend two hours setting up these gpu's. that makes them go from 500.00 after tax, to 600.00 after tax & labor. werent these cards supposed to be in the 300.00 dollar range?

ReviewText: Pro: Quiet, fast, stable, GNC and mantle will give this card some longevity for future games. Cons: HUGE! this thing is massive, but my case is the size of a motor-home so it was not an issue. Other Thoughts: Installed without a hitch, hdmi out works perfect. love this card. Skyrim with fxaa injector and somber enb and all graphics maxed out, looks as good or better than some of today's gamesmy rig:AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz- OC'd 4GHz / Hyper 212 EVO - Push-PullM4A87TD EVO AMD8702xGSKILL F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM / 2xGSKILL F3-12800CL7D-2GBRMHIS 7950 3GB 384-bit ICEQ X² Cooler2xWD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA -raid0SanDisk ReadyCache SDSSDRC-032G-G26 2.5" 32GB SATA III2x ASUS DRW-24B1STXCLIO Windtunnel (aka "the Winnebago") / Antec True Power Trio TP3-550 550WWindows 7 ultimate x64ASUS VE278Q 27-Inch LED

ReviewText: Pro: This card is a pure beast. It performs better than my XFire 7850's did, I should note the only reason why I bought this monster was because my 7850's died after a power surge. Apparently it is the equivalent of shutting down a turbo charged engine immediately after a hard run (severe damage can occur).I have no issues with the fans as of yet but I do have a solution for myself and hopefully some helpful information for anyone else. See OTHER thoughts below Cons: None yet Other Thoughts: If you are having issues with your fans, first off I understand if you want to RMA it right away. I how ever am a bit impatient and I like to improvise.I confirmed my suspicions today that the massive heatsink and fans are compatible with the cooling system from my Sapphire 7850's. For bad fans, you can literally unbolt the stock fans and replace them with the fans from a Sapphire 7850. It uses 3 philips head screws and the pattern is the same.Since it is obvious that these parts are a standard configuration between different brands I'm sure most of you will be able to find something to use as a temporary replacement for any defective fans. If you don't want to do it the Mcgyver way then that is fine. I'm just putting this out there so people can have some hope of fixing their system relatively easily. So if you have a spare AMD 7000 series card laying around, try matching up the fans from that. I hope this helps!

Important information for defective fans

ReviewText: Pro: This card is fast, has a sturdy build, and looks cool. Cons: Big, and loud. The fan ramps up to insane levels. I can hear it through my headphones. Other Thoughts: Kind of wish it was quieter...I feel like I'm upsetting my roommate when I play games...plus I have a mechanical keyboard! Manufacturer Response: Thank you for the great review. There are many companies who make "quiet" keyboards, and you could modify the fan settings to lower the RPM's at the cost of running a little bit more hot. If you feel the fans are making an excess of noise and may need to be replaced, contact us below.neweggsupport@xfxforce.comXFX SupportPlay Hard!

ReviewText: Pros: This is a great card. I have had it mining coins 24/7 for 2 weeks now at 860-870 K/hs. Cons: The cooler is not good. I have the cards at a steady 80 degrees. The only reason it does not go higher is because they are in a cold basement space.

Good Card
